Khomas netball opener a success
WINDHOEK, 20 MAR (NAMPA) – The University of Namibia (UNAM) netball team, Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) and Afrocat Lions were on Saturday crowned winners of the Khomas netball opening tournament.
The opening tournament, organised by the Khomas Netball Federation, was held at the Khomasdal Stadium in Windhoek.
The one-day tournament was used as a pre-season competition for all teams that compete in the Khomas League’s three different divisions to test their players ahead of the new netball season.
The three divisions are the premier league, first division and second division.
On Saturday, the competition was played on a league basis format.
UNAM won the premier division, Tigers were in second place and the Namibian Police Force third.
NUST won the first division, with UNAM in second place and Tigers third.
The Afrocat Lions won the second division, with UNAM finishing second and Tura Magic third.
The 2017 Khomas netball season is scheduled to start in April.
