Salute Boxing to host its first bonanza of the year
WINDHOEK, 19 APR (NAMPA) - The Salute Boxing Academy (SBA) will host its first boxing bonanza for the year at the Windhoek Country Club on 04 May to celebrate Cassinga Day.
Nine bouts are scheduled for the night under the theme 'Building of champions'.
Three national titles will be at stake.
Some of the boxers expected to fight on the night are Jonas ‘Brave Heart’ Mateus and Julius Sheetheni for the Super Bantamweight national title; David ‘Opuwo Flash’ Shinuna and Immanuel Andeleki for the Junior Lightweight national title, while the main bout of the night will see Nathaniel ‘Natty’ Kakololo take on Dominicus Weyulu for the Featherweight national title.
Speaking at a media briefing here on Wednesday, SBA Executive Chairperson Kiriata Kamanya said everything is in order, but he called on the corporate world to come on board and make the event bigger.
SBA Deputy Chairperson Linus Indongo congratulated Julius Indongo for his three belts.
“We are profoundly proud of what Indongo has achieved as this show that as a country we have a lot of talent that we need to be proud of,” he said.
Indongo became a triple world boxing titleholder when he beat Ricky Burns to unify his International Boxing Federation (IBF) Super Lightweight and International Boxing Organisation (IBO) Super Lightweight belts with the World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Lightweight held by Burns in Glasgow, Scotland on Saturday.
