Court dismisses NCIS case against local newspaper

WINDHOEK, 18 JUN (NAMPA) – The High Court on Monday dismissed the case in which the Namibia Central Intelligence Services (NCIS) tried to stop The Patriot newspaper from publishing an article pertaining to several properties owned by the service, alleged corruption and malpractice.
The Patriot has now been given the go-ahead with its story, according to Judge Harold Geier who presided over the legal battle.

Agriculture's contribution to GDP declining: Schlettwein

GOBABIS, 18 JUNE (NAMPA) – Primary and secondary agricultural production’s contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has been declining over the past years, Finance Minister Calle Schlettwein has said.
He said this is a result of a rise in imported products in the agriculture sector, combined with an equally large number of exports of products where no value addition takes place.
