A man who had already been charged in 2025 with the rape of young boys in the Beaujolais region was charged again in April 2026 following the discovery of further victims – 34 in total, aged between three and nine – the public prosecutor’s office in Villefranche-sur-Saone said on April 29, 2026, confirming a report in the French newspaper Le Monde. The 40-year-old suspect was charged with rape and sexual assault of minors under the age of 15, as well as the possession and storage of pornographic images of minors, prosecutor Laetitia Francart told AFP.
