Game designer Mame Faty Kane poses for a portrait at the Game Hub in Dakar, on March 6, 2026. Mame Faty started playing video games at a young age. Instead of asking for dolls like her friends, she received a Game Boy from her parents. What began as a pastime slowly turned into a passion, and after finishing her studies, she began building her skills at Dakar’s Game Hub to become a game designer. To this day, she has created several video games, focusing mostly on educational ones like Cax Caxett (“find the riddle” in Wolof), where players can learn about Senegalese culture.“I can make my dreams come true when I create a video game. I’m always wondering, ‘Can I do this?’ and then I realize that there are no limits to what I can do as a game designer.” (Photo by PATRICK MEINHARDT / AFP)
