JSE closes lower as banks and retailers retreat on rand's tumble

JOHANNESBURG, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- The Johannesburg Stock Exchange closed lower on Friday as banks and retailers retreated on rand's tumble.
At 5:20 p.m. local time, South Africa's rand was at R14.08 to the dollar, from R13.7 at the U.S. close on Thursday. It was at R16.07 to the euro from R15.8, and at R17.99 to the pound from R17.57.
