ALERT: TRUCK CARRYING OLD ASBESTOS ROOFING SHEETS OVERTURNS ON SWAKOPMUND/ARANDIS ROAD

SWAKOPMUND, 11 OCT (NAMPA) – A truck carrying old asbestos roofing sheets from Arandis overturned on Thursday evening about 20 Kilometres to Swakopmund from Arandis,at around 17h00.
The accident was confirmed to Nampa by passers-by.
It is alleged that the truck, which belongs to Escon and was contracted by the Rossing Uranium, was transporting the material to Walvis Bay for safe disposal as it could pose a health hazard if carelessly handled.
No fatalities were reported.
