Man sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for rape at Otjiwarongo

OTJIWARONGO, 20 NOV (NAMPA) - A 29-year-old man was on Friday sentenced to 10 years in prison for raping a woman in Otjiwarongo’s DRC informal settlement in 2016.
Elvis Rukoro was found guilty by Otjiwarongo Regional Court Magistrate, Marilize du Plessis on a charge of rape laid against him by a woman who was 32 when the incident occurred.
Rukoro through his Legal Aid lawyer, Meriam Kenaruzo pleaded not guilty to the charge, saying they had consensual sex.
