Germany records increase in start-ups in first quarter of 2019

Frankfurt (dpa) - A greater number of new businesses have been launched in Germany in the first quarter of 2019 than a year earlier, the Federal Statistical Office said on Thursday.
Germany registered 156,400 new start-ups in the quarter, an increase of 3.6 per cent compared to the same period last year.
This included 34,800 businesses whose legal form and number of employees suggest they will be of "greater economic importance," the office said, up 2.8 per cent from the first quarter of 2018. ...
