Russian strategic bombers land in airport near Alaska

MOSCOW, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- Two Tu-160 strategic bombers of Russia performed a long non-stop flight to Anadyr airfield in Russia's Chukotka Region near the U.S. State of Alaska, the Russian Defense Ministry said Wednesday.
The bombers flew more than eight hours covering over 6,000 km without refueling to Russia's easternmost region, where Alaska is just across the Bering Strait, the ministry said in a statement.
