Standard Bank warns against vishing scam

WINDHOEK, 09 OCT (NAMPA) - Standard Bank on Wednesday warned its customers of a vishing scam following an increase in cases where fraudsters pretend to be officials from the bank to manipulate customers into sharing personal information.
‘Vishing’ is the act of using the telephone in an attempt to scam victims into surrendering private information that will be used to access their account to defraud them.
