More than 1 000 job opportunities in fishing industry: Kawana

SWAKOPMUND, 29 MAY (NAMPA) – Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources Albert Kawana has announced that there are 1 300 vacancies in the fishing industry ready to be filled.
Kawana, who was speaking at the COVID-19 Information Centre on Friday, was responding to a query on what the ministry has done so far to deal with the mass loss of jobs of thousands of fishermen.
Close to 4 000 fishermen have over the years lost their jobs after fishing companies lost their fishing rights, forcing them to close down.
