79 injured in fan clashes at German fourth-division match

Leipzig (dpa) - Rival fans clashed after an eastern German fourth division match between Carl Zeiss Jena and Chemie Leipzig which left 79 people injured, according to local police. Police said late Saturday that the fighting started when both camps violently opened buffer gates behind a stand after Leipzig fans had thrown pyrotechnics towards the Jena fans.
