Former Opuwo CEO now Omaruru CEO

WINDHOEK, 16 MAY (NAMPA) – Former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Opuwo, Alfons Tjitombo has been appointment as the new CEO of Omaruru.
Mayor of Omaruru, Hendrina Gebhard on Tuesday afternoon confirmed the appointment of Tjitombo, adding that he is expected to start in his new position on 01 June 2017.
“We are not only happy that Omaruru finally has a CEO, but his profile has convinced us that he will bring our town to the level of development we have been dreaming of for the past years,” Gebhard told Nampa.
The absence of a CEO, according to Gebhard, hampered developmental projects.
Approached for comment, Tjitombo said that he has not yet been informed about his new appointment, but confirmed that he went for an interview for the position.
Tjitombo left the Opuwo Town Council towards the end of 2016, after his contract came to an end.
The former CEO, Edward Paul Ganaseb was fired in 2014 following allegations of irregularities in the administration of the council.
Omaruru has thus been without a CEO for the past three years.
