Medicine regulatory council wants autonomy to generate revenue

WINDHOEK, 11 DEC (NAMPA) – The Namibian Medicines Regulatory Council (NMRC) wants autonomy from the Ministry of Health and Social Services, which will see it transform into a financially self-sustained service, an audit report shows.
This call comes at the back of a precarious 2016/17 financial year, which saw the council receive N.dollars 10.7 million from the health ministry.

Three people die in Erongo Region over long weekend

SWAKOPMUND, 11 DEC (NAMPA) – Two car accidents and a shack fire led to the deaths of three people in the Erongo Region over the long weekend, the Namibian Police have reported.
According to a crime report issued by Erongo Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu on Monday, an 18-year-old girl succumbed to injuries she sustained in a shack fire at Otjimbingwe Friday.
Memory Garises was rescued from the burning shack with about 80 per cent burns all over her body, he said. ...
