Okahandja man hacked to death
OTJIWARONGO, 17 JUL (NAMPA) - A 41-year-old man died in the early hours of Sunday after he was hacked with a sharp object on the neck and back at his house in the Ehafo residential area of Okahandja.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha told Nampa on enquiry Monday no one has yet been arrested for the incident.
She said preliminary police investigations indicate at Erastus Haiteta exited the house about 00h39 to stand outside when he was attacked with a sharp object.
“He fell to the ground with severe injuries and managed to crawl back inside the house where he died,” said Mbeha, adding Haiteta called a relative to inform them of the attack before he died.
He was an employee of the Okahandja Municipality’s Water and Sewerage Department.
Okahandja Chief Executive Officer, Martha Mutilifa on Monday said municipal employees are in shock and saddened by Haiteta’s death.
Haiteta’s next of kin were informed.
Police investigations continue.
