Joan Sheehan (L), daughter of John Joseph Sheehan, receives a lost US Navy bracelet found in France almost 80 years ago, from the Consul General of France Frank Marchetti at the Residence of France in Houston, Texas, on November 11, 2025. This bracelet -engraved with the name of its owner, sailor John Joseph Sheehan, his service number, blood type, and the affectionate inscription “Your wife Helen 1945”- was returned to the soldierґs daughter, Joan Sheehan, by the Consul General of France, Frank Marchetti. The bracelet was discovered in 1946 in Le Havre by Henriette Blanc, a local resident, who could not identify the owner despite several attempts, and kept the bracelet safely for decades in the hope of returning it to its rightful owner, a wish that was honored by her family and by French and American authorities, once she passed away.
