The Durres Prosecutor's Office issued 33 arrest warrants on February 3, 2026 for suspected involvement in the trafficking of toxic waste that was turned away by Thailand. The waste left the Balkan nation in July 2024 in more than 100 containers. Thailand rejected the consignment following claims by an environmental group that it was illegal toxic waste.
