Built mainly during the Ptolemaic period and dedicated to the goddess Isis, the Philae Temple complex's structures feature floral capitals, hieroglyph-covered walls, and reliefs of ancient deities. The temples were submerged because of the construction of Aswan Low Dam in early 1900s and the later construction of Aswan High Dam in the 1960s.
