Firefighters on Wednesday placed under control a blaze that tore through a residential area in Manila City, Philippines, forcing the evacuation of hundreds of families and destroying dozens of houses. The fire broke out on Wednesday afternoon and quickly spread across closely packed homes, affecting an estimated 600 families in the area, the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said. (260227) -- BEIJING, Feb. 27, 2026 (Xinhua) -- An aerial drone photo taken on Feb. 26, 2026 shows China-Europe freight trains waiting for outbound departure at Manzhouli Railway Station in Manzhouli City, north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. As of Feb. 26, 2026, the eastern corridor of the China-Europe freight train network has witnessed more than 1,000 train trips on its railway lines this year, breaking the mark 26 days earlier than last year. The eastern corridor consists of three railway ports including Manzhouli, Suifenhe and Tongjiang.
