Judiciary heard over 2 500 criminal cases in 2019

WINDHOEK, 13 FEB (NAMPA) - A total of 2 570 criminal cases were heard by regional courts’ magistrates between January 2019 and January 2020, Chief Justice Peter Shivute revealed during the opening of the 2020 legal year on Wednesday.
“Of those, 523 were finalised and the remaining 2 047 cases were carried over to 2020,” Shivute disclosed.
The court’s work is also divided into a civil stream and a criminal stream.
