U.S. stocks open higher as tech rallies

NEW YORK, April 8 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks opened higher on Thursday, buoyed by solid gains in tech names.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 23.63 points, or 0.07 percent, to 33,469.89. The S&P 500 increased 8.78 points, or 0.22 percent, to 4,088.73. The Nasdaq Composite Index jumped 116.44 points, or 0.85 percent, to 13,805.28. The 30-stock index fell slightly shortly after the opening bell.
