Oberammergau Passion Play back after a two-year delay due to pandemic

Munich (dpa) - An every-decade theatrical event staged since the 1600s in the Bavarian town of Oberammergau to honour the life of Jesus Christ - and thus keep the plague away - began on Saturday after a two-year delay due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Passion Play is an event that consumes the town of 5,200, with almost a year of preparation every time for a show that runs five hours (with a three-hour intermission), five days a week from May to October.
