Germany eases rules to raise grain production

Berlin (dpa) - The German government is easing environmental regulations to allow farmers to use more of their land to grow cereal crops, given the shortages on the global markets generated partly by Russia's war on Ukraine.
Berlin is to suspend new EU regulations for a year that concern crop rotation and require land be set aside to lie fallow, in a one-off easing it is hoped will increase food output.
