1 (WINDHOEK, 24 NOV, DPA) - A statue of a German colonial ruler was removed from the city of Windhoek in Namibia on orders from the Windhoek City Council, according to spokesperson Harold Akwenye yesterday.

The statue of Curt von François will be taken to the Independence Museum for safekeeping - its long-term future remains unclear.
