Argentina's ESMA torture center: hell becomes heritage

Buenos Aires, Sept 19, 2023 (AFP) - The ESMA, the most notorious murder and torture center among hundreds operated by Argentina's 1976-83 military dictatorship, stands today as a reminder of the brutality humans are capable of.
Inscribed Tuesday on the UNESCO list of World Heritage sites, the center's four-letter acronym still manages to send a shudder down Argentine spines.
