Retrospective of German painter Otto Dix to open in birth city

Erfurt, Germany (dpa) - The city of Gera in the eastern German state of Thuringia will honour one of the country's most famous painters of the 20th century, Otto Dix, with a comprehensive retrospective opening on October 4. The painter and printmaker, who was born in Gera in 1891, is known for depicting the challenges of life during the Weimar Republic and the brutality of war.
