NEW YORK, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar advanced in late trading on Tuesday. The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 0.41 percent to 101.193 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT). In late New York trading, the euro declined to 1.1072 U.S. dollars from 1.1132 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound decreased to 1.3284 dollars from 1.3375 dollars in the previous session.
