Italy's jobless rate falls to 6.2%, lowest since September 2007

Rome (dpa-AFX) - Italy's unemployment rate decreased for the second straight month in August to the lowest level in nearly 17 years, the statistical office ISTAT reported on Wednesday. The jobless rate dropped to 6.2% in August from 6.4% in July. Meanwhile, economists had expected a rate of 6.5%. In the corresponding month last year, the rate was 7.6%.
