Tokyo's key stock index rose more than two percent Thursday on a weaker yen after Japan's new prime minister threw cold water on expectations for more interest rate cuts. The Nikkei 225 index rose 2.24 percent, or 846.27 points, at 38,655.03 by the break, while the broader Topix index was up 1.44 percent, or 38.22 points, at 2,690.18.
