Senior IS militant killed near Iraq's Baghdad

BAGHDAD, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- A senior leader of the extremist Islamic State (IS) group was killed on Sunday in an operation in Babil province south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, a statement by the Iraqi paramilitary Hashd Shaabi forces said. Based on intelligence reports, a paramilitary force, known as the Popular Mobilization Forces, carried out an operation in the Jurf al-Nasr area south of Baghdad, killing a militant believed to be the group......
