Frankfurt (dpa) - German industrial production rose by a surprising amount in August, driven by strong performance from German carmakers, according to government figures released on Tuesday. In August, total production increased by 2.9% month-on-month, according to Germany's Federal Statistical Office. Analysts had expected an increase, but on average only by 0.8%.
