Labour leaders complain of persistent wage gap in former East Germany

Magdeburg, Germany (dpa) - The German Trade Union Confederation (DGB) has criticized the fact that wages in the former communist East Germany continue to lag behind pay in the rest of the country. The current wage difference is 19%, said Susanne Wiedemeyer, head of the DGB in the eastern German state of Saxony-Anhalt.
