Olympic gold medallist Zheng Qinwen became the first tournament debutante to reach the championship match at the WTA Finals since 2021 with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Barbora Krejcikova in Riyadh on Friday. The seventh-seeded Zheng needed one hour and 40 minutes to overcome the Wimbledon champion in their semi-final encounter, firing nine aces along the way.
