LUDERITZ, 19 NOV (NAMPA) – The Lüderitz Blue School, a private institution following the United Kingdom (UK’s) cambridge curriculum, has officially been certified by the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture to expand it to secondary education starting next year.

Its acting principal and board chairperson, Lucy Hooft, during a recent media tour to the school told journalists that the school currently offers classes from grades 0 to 7 and will expand to include grades 8 and 9 in 2025.

The school, which started its operations in 2023, is an extension of the Kelp Blue Company, a project facilitated by the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB). The company has been farming kelp on the shores of Lüderitz since 2021, and has to date invested over N.dollars 160 million.

“Since opening its doors in 2023 with just five learners, the Lüderitz Blue School has experienced impressive growth, now serving about 45 learners,” Hooft said, noting that the expansion into secondary education marks an exciting new chapter for the school, which she stressed is known for its focus on academic excellence and a wide range of extracurricular activities.

The tour, which consisted of seven local journalists, was organised by NIPDB.
