German farmers step up cereal sowing after wet last season

Frankfurt (dpa) - Germany's farmers have sown significantly more winter cereals this autumn after wet weather conditions hampered the last harvest. At 4.8 million hectares, the area under cultivation is almost 257,000 hectares or 5.6% greater than a year earlier, according to the Federal Statistical Office.
