Evacuation of Dresden city centre begins for WWII bomb disposal

Berlin (dpa) - The evacuation of a restricted area around the site where an unexploded World War II bomb was found near the Carola Bridge in the eastern German city of Dresden has commenced. Sirens sounded early on Thursday morning. According to the authorities, the approximately 10,000 affected people now have from 7 to 9 am (0600-0800 GMT) to leave the area in the city centre.
