Vast crowds of Hindu pilgrims in India entered sacred waters to bathe before dawn on Monday, heralding the start of the Kumbh Mela festival, the largest gathering of humanity, AFP reporters saw. Pilgrims, many who have travelled from far across India and abroad, immersed themselves in the cool waters where the holy Ganges, Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati rivers meet to bathe, an act they believe helps cleanse sins and brings salvation. sai/pjm/......
