2 Singaporeans arrested for evading 334,317 USD in taxes

SINGAPORE, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- Two 29-year-old Singaporeans have been arrested for allegedly evading taxes amounting to 457,968 Singapore dollars (about 334,317 U.S. dollars), Singapore Customs said in a statement on Monday. The man and woman were detained on Jan. 23 during a customs operation at Petir Road in northwest Singapore. Authorities seized 4,228 cartons of duty-unpaid cigarettes and two vans.
