German conglomerate Siemens reports first quarter increase in profit

Berlin (dpa) - Siemens, one of the largest manufacturing companies in Europe, reported a rise in profit for the first quarter, the company said on Thursday. The company's earnings totalled ?3.705 billion ($3.8 billion), or ?4.66 per share. This compares with ?2.389 billion, or ?2.99 per share, in the previous year.
