Salzgitter doubles cost-cutting target to ?500 million a year

Hanover (dpa) - German steel maker Salzgitter is intensifying its cost-cutting efforts and aims to save ?500 million ($542 million) a year by 2028 - twice its previous target of ?250 million - chief executive Gunnar Groebler told dpa. The company plans to cut costs mainly in procurement, logistics and sales in response to financial losses and will also reasses its investments.
