Fabian Schär signs new deal at Newcastle

London (PA Media/dpa) - Fabian Schär has extended his contract with Newcastle until the summer of 2026. The Swiss defender has spent seven seasons on Tyneside after arriving from Spanish club Deportivo La Coruna in July 2018. Schär has made 221 competitive appearances for Newcastle and scored 19 goals, one of which was a memorable stoppage-time strike in a 4-1 win against Paris St Germain during the club's Champions League campaign in 2023-24.
