WINDHOEK, 10 APR (NAMPA) - The Windhoek High Court has postponed judgment in the case of a 33-year-old man accused of killing his common-law wife with an axe.
Barnabas Nawaseb will on 25 April 2025 hear whether or not he is guilty of the charges of murder and housebreaking with intent to murder.
Nawaseb is accused of killing Methisia Tanises, the mother of his two children, on 21 December 2022 in Khorixas after the deceased allegedly ended their relationship.
Nawaseb denied guilt during the trial, citing self-defence.
He alleges that the deceased grabbed his private parts and he retaliated by hitting her with an axe.
A post-mortem report presented in court found that the deceased’s head was chopped five times.
In October last year, Judge Claudia Claasen made a ruling that dismissed confessions Nawaseb reportedly made to police officers at the time of his arrest.
