Märtens smashes 16-year-old mark to set 400m freestyle record

Berlin (dpa) - Olympic swimming champion Lukas Märtens has set the record in the 400 metre freestyle on Saturday, smashing the previous mark set by compatriot Paul Biedermann's 16 years ago. The 23-year-old German clocked 3 minutes 39.96 seconds to take 0.11s from the long-standing mark during the Stockholm Open.
