Washington (dpa-AFX) - Retail sales in the US saw a sharp increase in March, according to a report released by the Commerce Department on Wednesday, as consumers made big-ticket purchases ahead of the Trump administration's tariff rollout. The Commerce Department said retail sales shot up by 1.4% in March after inching up by 0.2% in February. Economists had expected month-on-month retail sales to jump by 1.3 percent.
