MOSCOW, April 25 (RIA Novosti) - The European Union granted protection status to 437,900 asylum seekers in 2024, 7% more than in 2023, with the highest number recorded in Germany, the European Statistical Office (Eurostat) said on Friday. "In 2024, EU countries granted protection status to 437 900 asylum seekers, a 7% increase compared with 2023 (409 530)," Eurostat said in a statement.
