UK public borrowing rose by a higher-than-expected figure in September, official data showed Tuesday, just days before the new Labour government presents its maiden budget. Public sector borrowing stood at £16.6 billion ($21.5 billion) last month, or "£2.1 billion more than in September 2023 and the third highest September borrowing since monthly records began in January 1993," the Office for National Statistics said. ajb/ach ...
