UK public borrowing rose by a higher-than-expected figure in September, official data showed Tuesday, just days before the new Labour government presents its first budget. Public sector borrowing stood at £16.6 billion ($21.5 billion) last month, up £2.1 billion from September 2023, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said.
