Berlin (dpa) - The new clade Ib variant of the mpox virus has been detected in Germany for the first time, the country's leading public health authority, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), announced on Tuesday. The patient is a 33-year-old man in Cologne who probably acquired the infection in an East African country, according to the Health Ministry in the western German state of North Rhine-Westpahlia.
