Germany's Scholz cancels trip to UN climate change conference in Baku

Berlin (dpa) - German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has cancelled his planned trip to the UN Climate Change Conference starting in Baku next week, a government spokesman confirmed to dpa on Thursday, one day after Scholz's centre-left coalition collapsed. Scholz would not travel to the Azerbaijani capital for the conference known as COP29 "due to the current political situation," the spokesman said.
